End of 2009

Posted December 29th, 2009 in Uncategorized

Wow… so much has happened since I last posted on my Blog.

Frogeyes have been very active with all the cars that I have advertised on this site being sold. Project Frogeyes are required if you have one or know of any For Sale….. (I will advertise on the site for you). I still have my Heartbeat Frogeye which I didn’t sell at auction earlier this month. Driving it back from London, I felt relieved that it didn’t quite make it’s reserve, fate must have been with me that day, the car is such a joy to drive and I’m happy to keep it.

September saw Anita and me visit the Gold Coast in Australia. We went to meet David Godwin and his wife Laurel. They own and run various car related business’ there and have asked me to take on the running of a new venture. This is called the Classic Car Clinic and as the name implies, caters for Classic Cars, but mainly British ones….

I will be taking two cars with me to Australia, my red Frogeye and Anita’s red Midget. They will both be enjoyed in sunshine on some fantastic roads and will, for a time at least, be our everyday cars.

So, Drymar will continue to run under the watchful eye of Paul Fish. Paul has been working with me for the last 12 months and is very much a Mini and Spridget enthusiast, so needless to say, the standard of work and knowlage base offered to you will be as comprehensive as always. Helping Paul Fish will be Paul Hutchinson who again has worked with me for a good while. Hutch’s expertise are in sheet metal fabrication but he is a very busy man, very much in demand. We have a waiting list taking us well into Spring 2010 for his time.

Thank you everyone for your support throughout 2009 and we look forward to seeing you in 2010.

Happy New Year to you all….

Mark.

At relitavly short notice, Anita and I are going over to Brisbane in Australia for a couple of weeks. We will be seeing the sights and getting a taste of the Classic Car world in the Southern Hemisphere. We will also be visiting the Speed on Tweed race meeting in NSW.

Please note that during that time (until 15th Sept) I will NOT be contactable by phone but will be picking up emails on mark.boldry@ntlworld.com IF you need to contact me.

Wanted this time….

I have advertised a couple of my own cars on the ‘Classic Cars for sale’ website, you can find them here:

http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-page.php/carno/68872

and here:

http://www.classiccarsforsale.co.uk/classic-car-page.php/carno/68735

I will have some more to sell shortly.

I have decided that my collection is now too large to keep and maintain and with the loss of ITV’s ‘The Royal’ and ‘Heartbeat’, I no longer have regular work for them. Funds raised from these cars will be directed into restoring some of my more desirable cars like the First MG Midget, Mk1 ‘Speedwell’ tuned Sprite, 2x Mk1 Mini Cooper S, Ford GPW Jeep, Austin Healey 3000 and my everyday Mk1 Sprite.

So keep an eye on this Blog for some up and coming bargains……

I have a couple of ‘Wants’ this month:

The first is an MGB Roadster, this car must be a 1968 / 1972 car in good sound roadgoing order with full MOTc.

The second request is for a Triumph TR4.

Information leading to a purchase of either or both these cars will be gratefully received.

Happenings…

Posted August 29th, 2009 in Workshop

Well, since our return from France, lots has been happening.

Work is coming in a nice steady rate. 2 Sprites, 2 Midgets, 1 Healey Frogeye, 1 Corsa (my Son’s), the Lagonda is finished it’s first stage and is now back with it’s keeper, the MG SA has been away on the MG SVW Register weekend with Mum and Dad in the Cambridge area. Just a water pump issue which was easily resolved.

Time I think for another break……

Holiday……

Boldry’s BBQ

Posted August 11th, 2009 in Uncategorized

Thank you to all who came and braved the glorious sunshine, beer, wine and song, to make this (in my mind) the best BBQ yet……. I think we had around 80 guests and we nearly managed to demolish the 18 gallons of real ale. The BBQ was still hot the following day, so the few of us remaining….. carried on, (well, it would have been rude not to wouldn’t it…).

I’m not sure about plans for next year yet as there are other matters in the air that may effect it. Watch this space…….

M.I.N.I. (Minis in Northern Ireland)

Posted August 11th, 2009 in Uncategorized

What a lovely surprise we had on our trip to work last Thursday. Driving through the village we spotted a couple of ‘prepared’ Minis outside one of the local B&Bs. Of course we had to stop for a chat. We were greeted by a small group of very enthusiastic Mini owners who were travelling down from Scotland (having already driven and ferried from Dublin) all the way to Mini 50 at Longbridge. We suggested they call via the workshop for a peep at some of our cars and work in hand. They came along in no less than 5 Minis, one superb early, very original and unrestored Mk1 850 witch has only covered 13,000 miles from new; a lovely 1275 GT and a couple of other lovely looking Mk3s to finally a ‘Works replica’ based on a Mk3 Cooper S.

Ladies and Gents, if you are reading this, thank you very much for calling and I hope your trip to Mini 50 was without problems and you have got home safely. Fantastic to meet you all…….

See you there…….

Vehicles For Sale

Posted August 6th, 2009 in For Sale

Not much new here at the moment, however, I hope to have another Frogeye restoration project available in the not too distant future. This is a car that has been stored since (I think) 1996. It is an ‘All Steel’ matching numbers car that will require a complete renovation. Like the other Frogeye project I have available, this car would not be beyond the capabilities of the novice restorer.

Please contact me for more information.

MG TD

Work is progressing very well with the MG TD. The car is now compleatly stripped and ready for it’s next stage which is preparation for painting. I hope to be able to post some pictures in due course.
